After those in Valladolid (Spain) and Saltillo (Mexico), the third FIP Gold of the season will be played this weekend in Lyon (France). And it will be an unmissable tournament, that of the CUPRA FIP Tour circuit, the international circuit of the International Padel Federation: a ‘parterre de roi’ in both the men’s and women’s entry lists, where the presence of Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero, two of the world’s top talents who will be playing together again for the occasion after having parted ways in the last few weeks of the Premier Padel circuit. Alonso/Ustero (respectively number 16 and number 19 in the FIP rankings) will be the number 1 seed among the women, followed by Ksenia Sharifova (21) and Lucia Martinez Gomez (23); completing the podium are Spaniards Bea Caldera (26) and Lorena Rufo (25), with Italy’s Carolina Orsi (27) and Spain’s Nuria Rodriguez (24) number 4.
Among the men, however, leading the draw are Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo (number 16 and number 21 in the FIP ranking, respectively), with Alex Chozas (28) and number 31 Leo Augsburger (semi-finalists in the P1 in Rotterdam) on the other side. Enrique Goenaga (44) and Juanlu Esbri (23) are the number 4 seed, with Gonzalo Rubio (30) and Pablo Lijo (50) number 5. From today, full courts in Lyon for the first day of the main draw: the finals are scheduled for Sunday, with 125 FIP ranking points up for grabs for the winners.
