Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the Qatari government-backed investment fund, has completed its takeover of the sport of padel, with its Premier Padel™ series to merge with the rival World Padel Tour after months of negotiations.

The move will merge Premier Padel™, the new circuit created following QSI’s investment partnership with the International Padel Federation (FIP) in February 2022, and the rival WPT, uniting them into a single global professional padel tour.
World Padel Tour, established in 2013, is the leading tour in the sport, and features over 26 men’s and women’s tournaments across 14 countries, with 17 global sponsors, and broadcasting rights spanning more than 150 countries.

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Chairman of QSI and Premier Padel, said: “This is an historic moment for the sport of padel, ultimately seeing the two leading professional padel tours unified as one single global Premier Padel™ tour under the governance of the International Padel Federation – starting next year.”

Premier Padel™ was launched in 2022 and has become one of the fastest-growing tours in world sport.
