His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, a keen Padel enthusiast and accomplished amateur player, made sure not to miss one of his favourite sports during his visit to the 20th Mediterranean Games. Wearing a white cap, the national team shirt and a sporty look, the Prince showed great warmth, enthusiasm and openness. On Tuesday afternoon, after greeting the Games staff and the International Padel Federation staff, the Prince met with Organising Committee President Massimo Ferrarese and several officials involved in the event. He then took his seat in the VIP stand and watched some of the padel matches on the Central Court before taking part in the draw – the coin toss – for the Portugal-France match, with the Deus brothers on one side and the French pair Fonteny and Boronad on the other. And there was more. His Serene Highness then spent some time chatting with the players and posing for the customary photographs with world No. 8 Sofia Araujo, former world No. 1s Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno, and the top-ranked Italian women’s pair Carolina Orsi and Giorgia Marchetti, accompanied by head coach Marcela Ferrari.
