A confirmation and a change from 2024. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia the kings, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay the queens: the Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel has delivered its verdicts. If in the men’s draw the trophy and the 2,000 FIP ranking points went to the world number 1s, in the women’s draw the assault on the top ranking of Delfi and Gemma continued, who after Gijon, Cancun and Miami also won the title at the Khalifa Tennis&Squash Complex in Doha.
MEN The first duel of 2025 between Coello, Tapia, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan had started badly for the number 1 ranking players, who return to win a title after the opening one in Riyadh. Arturito and Agus, however, recovered from a break behind in the first set, which they then won in the tiebreak. A comeback that ended up affecting Chingotto and Galan’s final: a match that ended 7-6 6-2 in an hour and 21 minutes with the first match point won by Tapia with some magic of his own and the second converted due to an error by Chingotto. “I’m very happy to come back to win and thanks to Agus for that”, Coello’s words. “It was not easy to win, but it’s easy to win with this team – added Tapia –. A greeting to all those who follow me even from afar, from my Catamarca”.

WOMEN The final of the women’s draw was also decided in two sets, with Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay who will remember this day for a long time, and not only for the 2,000 points won in the ranking. The Argentine had never won a Major; Triay, on the other hand, does so with her third different partner, after winning with Marta Ortega and Claudia Fernandez. Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria remain at the top of the world ranking, but Delfi and Gemma – on their fourth title in 2025 – are getting closer. Two sets were identical in the way they played, with the number 1 ranked player ahead 4-1 and remounting to win 6-4, secured by a smash from Gemma Triay. “It was a very important tournament, because it put the points of two P1s up for grabs – explained the Spanish –. We tried to do our best and we won the tournament, and we have to continue in this way. After 4-1 down we started to play well: we will analyse what happened and how we changed gear”. “All of this is beautiful – Delfi said –. For me it’s the first Major and I’m happy: we are a team on and off the court and it showed”.
The Qatar Airways Premier Padel circuit will be back next week, with the big champions returning to Europe for the Lotto Brussels P2.
