It was a great weekend of padel in Gran Canaria, with the stands at Club La Calzada full for the finals of a FIP Star in which a number of athletes firmly in the top 100 of the FIP ranking took part.
In the men’s final, Gonzalez and Alonso (who had already lifted the trophy in last month’s FIP Platinum Sardegna) beat 1-6 6-4 6-3 number 3 seed José Jimenez and Jairo Bautista, confirming their position as one of the most interesting pairs in this central part of the season. In the women’s final, on the other hand, great happiness for Raquel Eugenio, who triumphed in front of friends and family, paired with Martina Fassio: the number 2 in the seeding dominated the final, leaving only three games to the number 1, Carla Mesa and Marta Marrero, beaten 6-1 6-2.
