Iconic brands and world leaders in their field, Babolat and Automobili Lamborghini announce a collaboration combining their technological and industrial expertise to produce exclusive padel rackets. The prototype of the first padel racket model “BL001”, which will be manufactured in a very limited series of only 50 units, was presented this morning at the Lamborghini Arena at the Imola circuit, in the presence of Éric Babolat, CEO of Babolat, and Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. Two more racket collections, BL002 and BL003, will be developed for distribution in 2025. This unexpected project combines Babolat’s mastery of racket and game technology with Automobili Lamborghini’s expertise in manufacturing processes and carbon fiber design.
BABOLAT AND AUTOMOBILI LAMBORGHINI “BL001”: EXCLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION
The first result of this partnership between Babolat and Automobili Lamborghini, respectively leading brands in racket sports (tennis, padel, badminton) and exceptional sports cars, will be a brand new unisex racket (BL001), available in five colors: giallo auge, verde viper, arancio livrea, viola pasifae, verde gea, produced in the cradle of the masters of composite materials production, in Sant’Agata Bolognese, near Bologna (Italy), at the headquarters of Automobili Lamborghini. A prestigious collectible racket in a very limited edition, designed with the tools, processes and materials used in the production of Italian luxury sports car manufacturers. While Babolat already uses carbon materials for the production of its padel rackets, the “BL001” will benefit from the unrivaled expertise of Automobili Lamborghini, experts in the art of mastering the use of carbon fiber in automobile production. Directly inspired by the automotive design of exceptional sports car chassis, the racket was designed using a single rigid peripheral frame, which acts as a cockpit to allow total control of the racket. The BL001, created with this extremely rigid peripheral monocoque frame, optimizes the deformation of the striking zone. The monocoque frame, which extends into the handle, allows the hand to be in direct contact with the chassis. This ensures perfect and very comfortable control of the racket, while providing exceptional power and ball speed. Like high-strength composite fibers, the materials used in this revolutionary masterpiece are directly derived from those used in exceptional sports cars, with a single motto: the pursuit of high performance.
The technical conception and design of the BL001 are the result of close collaboration between the technical teams of Babolat and Automobili Lamborghini for almost 6 months. The result of an ultra-precise and 100% artisanal process, the development was monitored by the Automobili Lamborghini teams in their Sant’Agata Bolognese factory, in collaboration with Babolat’s research and product development teams. Tests were then carried out in the field and in the laboratory by Babolat experts, as is the case with every new racket. This limited edition of approximately 50 rackets will be offered to the general public for pre-order. BABOLAT AND AUTOMOBILI LAMBORGHINI BL002 – BL003: SOON ON THE MARKET The technology developed as part of this collaboration on BL001 should then be applied to commercial models. By 2025, Babolat will produce two more rackets at its Padel Studio near Barcelona, Spain, thanks to this partnership with Automobili Lamborghini. These rackets, called “BL002” and “BL003”, will both be distributed to the general public. They will also benefit from many of the technologies and carbon fiber used in the BL001.
